In The Spotlight
Residents of one of the prettiest little lakes in Fulton County can now receive 6 times as many HD channels than before and they can record those channels on their Digital Video Recorders (DVR).
A new fiber optic upgrade allowed Nova1Net to offer, not only faster Internet speeds to Lake Weematuk residents, but also 33 new HD channels and the advanced DVR service. The DVR service lets a subscriber watch and digitally record up to 90 hours of standard TV programming or 30 hours of HD programming.
Now the folks at Lake Weematuk can enjoy life on the lake and have all of the technology that is available in larger cities.
Hello Ipava, Astoria and Vermont!
Ipava, Astoria and Vermont Illinois have been added to the Nova1Net network. The cable systems serving the three Fulton County towns were acquired last year from a large nationwide company. The systems had been rebuilt to state-of-the-art specifications and had been well maintained. Their distance though from the company’s other systems precluded them from being connected to a larger network that would make advanced services like high speed internet, digital cable and digital phone possible.
Nova1Net acquired the systems from Mediacom and immediately set to work to link the systems to Nova1Net’s 150 mile fiber optic network that covers 6 West-Central Illinois counties. Fiber optic cables were buried and the work continued through the winter. Splicing and testing of the system followed and in the Spring of 2015 the new fiber optic system was activated with all of the advanced services that are found in much larger cities.
High speed Internet service, digital cable and digital phone services are all now available over a reliable and advanced network. Slow Internet, weather related TV outages and high priced phone bills are now a thing of the past for residents of Ipava, Astoria and Vermont. Nova1Net is proud of the services it was able to bring to this part of Fulton County and looks forward to being part of the community!
Nova1Net has recently launched digital phone service (often known as VoIP — Voice over Internet Protocol). Through the use of software and its advanced fiber optic network, Nova1Net offers digital phone service that provides all of the functionality of a traditional telephone service, while making possible new features not available through traditional circuit-switched telephony.
Calls placed over Nova1Net’s network interconnect with the public telephone network. There are no per minute charges and no long distance charges. Depending on the community, a subscriber may keep their existing telephone number if they wish. The phone service requires an Internet connection but does not require a computer and can be connected to any telephone wiring or cordless phone in a subscriber’s home or business.
As with all of Nova1Net’s services, there are no long term contracts and special pricing is available for a limited time. This new phone service is one example of the new services that are possible with Nova1Net’s advanced fiber optic network.
